The following are the new changes in the Passport Rules, 2025:-

The Government of India has changed the Passport Rules, making the Birth Certificate the only accepted proof of date of birth for people born on or after October 1, 2023.

This Birth Certificate must be issued by:

To enhance security and privacy, the residential address will no longer be printed on the last page of the Passport.

Instead, a secure barcode system will be introduced to store address details digitally, which can be scanned by immigration and government officials when necessary.

This change will protect personal information and prevent misuse if the passport is lost or stolen.

👉New Color-Coded Passport System

The Indian government has introduced a new Color-Coded Passport System to make classification and identification easier

White Passport – Issued to government officials.

Red Passport – Issued to diplomats and individuals with special Rights

Blue Passport – Continues to be issued for ordinary citizens.

This system is designed to improve passport verification and speed up processing at immigration counters.

👉Removal of Parents' Names from Passports

In an effort to promote inclusivity and protect personal details, parents' names will no longer be printed on the last page of the Passport

This update is especially beneficial for individuals from diverse family structures, reducing unnecessary disclosure of private information

👉Expansion of Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs)

To make Passport Application Services more accessible, the Indian Government has announced an expansion of Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs)
